FAQ
Will the Classic Dutch Oven work with my oven and cooktop?
Yes! Our cookware can be used on all types of cooking surfaces: gas, electric solid plate or radiant ring, ceramic glass, induction and in the oven up to 500°F (260°C). If cooking on a glass cooktop, take care to lift your cookware (not just ours) to prevent scratches to your cooktop or cookware.
Why is your cookware so affordable?
Our cookware is manufactured with the same technique, equipment, materials, and attention to detail as other high-end enamelled cast iron brands. What we don't have: a large team, middlemen, sales representatives, distributors, or brick and mortar stores. Because of this we can pass those savings on to you.
How do you clean the Classic Dutch Oven?
After cooking, allow your Dutch oven to cool before washing it with warm water, soap, and a non-abrasive sponge or cloth. Wipe your cast iron dry, and store away from humidity. For a little extra TLC, apply a small amount of neutral cooking oil to the rim of the pot and the edge of the lid before storing.
Does the Classic Dutch Oven require seasoning?
Seasoning refers to the process of developing a protective coating on cast iron through applying oil and heat. Thanks to the interior enamel of Classic Dutch Oven, it's ready to go out of the box and requires no seasoning to maintain excellent performance.
How do I keep my cast iron Dutch Oven from getting scratched?
This puppy is tough, but not indestructible. Softer tools like wood and silicone are your friend. Use metal tools carefully, and try not to scrape too hard.
Is this product oven safe?
Heat over medium or low heat, slowly, to ensure even heat distribution and for the best cooking results. Remember: these babies get hot and stay that way. If you’re serving straight from Milo (and it’s too pretty not to!) remember to place the pot on a trivet or heat-resistant surface. You can use Milo in the oven up to 450 degrees. It will withstand hotter temperatures, but there might be some discoloration or warping of the knob. For best results, keep it to 450 or below.
How should I care for my Dutch Oven?
If you see little scratches and lines -- especially if you’ve been scraping with metal tools -- don’t be alarmed. This is normal, and won’t impair performance at all. In many cases, these marks can be completely removed by scrubbing with a little baking soda and water, or a cookware cleaner like Bar Keepers Friend.
